What is a QR Code?
A QR Code (or "Quick Response" Code) is a type of barcode that can be read by a digital device (a smartphone or tablet). Often used in print marketing, these codes typically point to a single website URL.
Restaurants can effectively use QR Codes to link customers to a specific online destination, like their Online Orders URL or a specific page on their website.
Most smartphones have QR scanners built into the camera.
Some tablets, such as the Apple iPad, have QR readers built into their cameras.
Some older devices may require a particular app to read QR Codes (like this one)
– these apps are readily available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
To scan a QR Code using your device:
...Open the Camera on your smartphone (or a QR Reader app)
...Point your Camera at the QR Code
...Click the on-screen URL to follow the QR destination

We created these flyers to print & distribute around the restaurant for Murdoch's Irish Pub.
Point your camera to any of the QR Codes on these flyers to interact with their pages:
"ORDER ONLINE"
QR code links to online orders
|
"VIEW OUR MENU"
QR code links to menu page on website
|
"LEAVE US A REVIEW"
QR code links to reviews page
|
"JOIN OUR ECLUB"
QR code links to eClub page
|
For each flyer, we generated a QR Code for the specific destination, then customized a branded flyer for print to explain how it should be used. For example, the flyer to "VIEW OUR MENU" has a specific QR Code generated to link to the menu page on the Murdoch's Irish Pub website:
Creating Trackable QR Codes & Shortlinks in ENGAGE
-Tracking Link: a shortened link that leads to a URL. When created in Engage, these short links can be monitored with number of clicks and users, notably used to monitor click engagement from social media posts or online campaigns.
-QR Code: a barcode read by digital device. From Engage, these can be tracked with number of scans and users, most often used in print marketing campaigns.
- Click "Tracking Links" in the lefthand navigation, under "Engagement"
